Stage 8 of 8
The Final Years
Delegations arrive from across Arabia, the Farewell Hajj gathers a vast crowd, and the last chapter is his passing in Madinah.
Stage overview
The Final Years
After Makkah, much of Arabia turned toward Islam. In 9 AH the Prophet ﷺ led a large army north to Tabuk through the heat of summer, a hard march that tested everyone who joined it. The year is also remembered as the Year of Delegations, when envoys from tribe after tribe came to Madinah to meet him and accept Islam.
In 10 AH he led the Farewell Hajj, with a vast crowd gathered at Arafah and a sermon that Muslims still remember. A few months later he fell ill and passed away in Madinah, in 11 AH (632 CE).
These four chapters are told with care. They end with a loss, and with a community that now had to carry on without him.
