Sources & method
Prophetic Footsteps is written from trusted books of seerah and lectures by qualified teachers. Here is how we choose them, and how every chapter is checked.
The method
Four steps, the same for every chapter, from the first page read to the last line checked.
Only trusted sources: the classical books of seerah, and teachers known for their scholarship.
Each event is read in more than one source. Where scholars differ, we say so.
Plain English, short chapters, and a source for every fact, date and quotation.
Every chapter is checked before it is published, and corrected whenever it needs to be.
What we hold to
We follow the mainstream account of the seerah. Where reports or scholars differ, we show it, with the source.
Approximate dates carry a “c.” Hijri dates (AH) begin with the Hijrah in 622 CE.
Ayat and hadith are quoted word for word with a reference, never paraphrased or invented.
No prophets, Companions or faces, ever. Landscapes, maps and patterns carry the story instead.
The library
Every source used on the site will be listed here, with the chapters it supports.
Classical seerah and trusted modern works.
First sources arriving soon
The books behind each chapter will appear on this shelf as the chapters are published.
Seerah courses by qualified teachers, episode by episode.
First sources arriving soon
Lecture series will be listed with the episodes each chapter draws on.
Single talks and short films we recommend alongside a chapter.
First sources arriving soon
Videos will be embedded in the chapters they belong to, and gathered here.
Growing slowly, on purpose
We would rather lean on a handful of reliable books and teachers than on many we cannot check. The library grows as each chapter is written.
