ProfileFatimah bint Muhammad
Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) was the youngest daughter of the Prophet ﷺ and Khadijah, and she grew up in Makkah while Quraysh turned against her father. A well-known narration tells of a day when he was praying at the Kaaba and men of Quraysh laid refuse on his back. A young Fatimah came and cleared it away.
After the Hijrah, the migration to Madinah, she married her cousin Ali, around 2 AH. Theirs was a plain household. Narrations tell that she ground grain by hand until her palms were rough, and that when she and Ali asked her father for a servant, he taught them words of remembrance to say each night instead. At Uhud, she cleaned his wound and helped stop the bleeding.
She and Ali had four children: Hasan, Husayn, Zaynab and Umm Kulthum. Of all the Prophet's ﷺ children, she was the only one to outlive him, and she died within a few months of his passing, in 11 AH. She is often called az-Zahra, the radiant one.
