ProfileMaymunah bint al-Harith
Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) was the last woman the Prophet ﷺ married. The wedding took place in 7 AH, when the Muslims came to Makkah to perform the umrah, the lesser pilgrimage, that they had been prevented from performing the year before at Hudaybiyyah. It was held at Sarif, a few miles outside Makkah.
She was the sister of Lubabah, the wife of Al-Abbas, and so she was part of a well-connected family. Two of her nephews became famous: Khalid ibn al-Walid, who was then still on the other side, and Abdullah ibn Abbas, who became one of the great scholars of the Quran. The young Ibn Abbas once stayed overnight in her house so that he could watch how the Prophet ﷺ prayed at night, and he described it afterward.
Maymunah was known for her devotion and her care of family ties. She died around 51 AH, at Sarif, the same place where she had married the Prophet ﷺ.
