ProfileMus'ab ibn Umayr
Mus'ab (may Allah be pleased with him) was the son of a rich family of Makkah, raised in comfort and known in the city for his fine clothes. He accepted Islam in secret, and when his mother found out, she shut him in and cut off his support. He gave up the comfort of his old life and migrated, first to Abyssinia and then back to Makkah.
After the First Pledge of Aqabah, the Prophet ﷺ chose him to go to Madinah as the teacher of the new Muslims there. He stayed with As'ad ibn Zurarah and taught the Quran, patiently, house by house. Two of Madinah's most important leaders, Usayd ibn Hudayr and Sa'd ibn Mu'adh, accepted Islam through his teaching, and soon many households in Madinah had Muslims in them.
He carried the Muslim banner at Badr and at Uhud, and fell at Uhud in 3 AH. A narration tells that when he was buried, his burial cloth was so short that it covered his head but not his feet, so the Companions covered his feet with grass.
